The North East is composed of seven states whose natural beauty has earned them the sobriquet of 'seven sisters'. The entire North East India is a land of great natural beauty and variety. Framing these fertile valleys of the rivers Ganga and Brahmaputra is the Himalayan chain in the north, Arakans in the east and the Khasi and Garo hills of Meghalaya, in the south, the region is rich in flora and fauna. A large number of very colorful tribes with interesting customs and traditions live here. Shillong, known as the Queen of the East is really a perfect getaway.
